"On Their Wedding Day" by Sharon Tomisak

This wall quilt was a gift for my daughter's wedding and my first quilt. The pattern, 'Steps to the Altar' uses all neutral colors ranging from shades of white to tan. It consists of machine-pieced squares and triangles. Free motion machine quilting and machine trapunto create feathered hearts and diamonds. This quilt is visually significant as one can see the triangles come together to form a challis, the squares represent stairs and there are fabrics that depict wheat (the bread) and grapes (the wine). The three feathered hearts symbolize God's love in the center of the couple's relationship, The row of feathered diamonds below are a reminder of the rich blessings God has bestowed upon our lives. The upper diamonds represent God's continued grace.
