I am fascinated with pieced and quilted liturgical stoles. I have read a lot about art and how it is used in the church and how it can help to set the tone for worship. Sometimes you need a bright piece to call attention and for focus, but for a contemplative worship service muted colors encourage quietness and thoughtfulness. The words on this fabric also support quietness. The inside of this stole was pieced with a plaid wool that was found stashed in a church closet about 6 years ago. I thought it fitting that the wool should be recycled into a garment for the church.
