This is the first kit I've ever bought. I saw it in Cactus Quilt Shop in Tucson last year and decided it would be a quick and easy, fun-to-do present for my sister-in-law, Becky Kent, and her husband Kelvin, who live in Green Valley, AZ, south of Tucson, for the winter. And I really needed some portable handwork. Of course, if I made a few minor changes, it would be even better. Change the Mt. Picacho embroidered outline to the mountain views outside their back door. Stagger the plant bases instead of lining them up. Add a few more cactus leaves. It needs more flowers--and buds! (OK, forget adding a lizard, desert squirrel, or quail--this is getting complicated!) But not just plain blanket stitching on the raw edge appliqué--it should be spiky looking. And decorative quilting with perle cotton. And beads would really add a sparkle. So, "quick" and "easy" went out the window, but it was really fun to do.
