I've always wanted to learn how to dye my own fabrics. After taking a dye course from Marjie McWilliams, I went dye crazy! I had so much fabric piling up that I knew I needed to get back to my sewing machine. I challenged myself to create an entire quilt using only fabric I had dyed myself. Inside my head, I saw the image of a little boy jumping into the sea, just as a young mermaid was making her escape. I envisioned the near collision of the two worlds, while still showing the innocence of both. I experimented with all types of techniques to make my worlds come alive. Each step I took, pushed me a little further and I enjoyed every bit of my creative journey!
Techniques
Machine Piecing, Machine Appliqué, Machine Quilting, Embellishment (beads, yarn, hand dyed rope, sheer fabrics), free motion embroidery
