Laguna Morning celebrates the joy of watching many different birds on a spring morning on the Texas coast, near Rockport. All of the thread-painted birds are based on my own photos taken near our hotel. Over several hours after sunrise, all of these birds appeared there, and more! I have depicted the rippled surface of the bay, with strips of hand-dyed as well as commercial cottons. The grasses along the shore are stitched using raw-edge applique. I chuckle to think of what the two sea gulls are saying about all of the other birds!
