This quilt was hatched in a Karen Coombs workshop in March 2001. I completed piecing, layering, and basting by May. While happily quilting, Fate intervened via 9/11/01. My husband had recently started a job in Texas, the kids and I were still in Florida. We decided it wasn't worthwhile to have the family separated during this tumultuous time, so I packed the kids, pets, and necessities into the car and drove to Austin. One year and two moves later, the unfinished quilt was not to be found. It resurfaced in a box of baby clothes six years later. Hand quilted and bound in time for New Year's 2009, it will always be the link between two chapters of my life.
