I made this quilt after reading an African folk tale about the origin of Kente cloth. Supposedly two weavers watched a spider spin her web and invented Kente cloth by copying the spider's movements while weaving cloth. I used several types of the American printed version of Kente cloth mixed with lots of batiks to create this quilt.
