The leaf print in the center of this wall hanging was created using a leaf pounding technique resurrected and perfected by Iris Aycock, a member of " the Craft Guild of the Southern Highlands. Freshly picked leaves are taped to fabric and pounded with a hammer, releasing chlorophyll into the fabric -thus dyeing the fabric. The fabric is then "fixed" and washed leaving a permanent print. Finally the leaf imprint is outlined with a permanent pen to further accent the original image. Pieced borders using fabrics with leaf design prints complement and further enhance the botanical theme.
