| Each year at work, the various departments, divisions, and/or units create baskets for charity. Employees donate items to the baskets and the baskets are competitively sold via silent auction. All of the money generated goes toward funding a number of charities. In 2013 our department decided upon the theme "Around the World." I knew there was a quilt pattern with a similar name; therefore, I wanted to make a quilt item to donate. However, with a limited amount of time I needed to make a small version of the pattern. After spending some time looking online for cutting instructions for a small "Trip Around the World" pattern I stumbled into Ute-Barbara Skjonberg's pattern. I knew the pattern was perfect and I already had the perfect fabrics, purchased at the Houston International Quilt Festival years before. Departmental staff are quite the world travelers and we had a wonderful assortment of international items to fill the basket. |
