I love working in silk. I love how the fabric shimmers and how the silk thread blends into it to create pattern and shadow. After I finished my first silk whole cloth quilt, I couldn't wait to begin another. When I began planning it, I wanted to step away from what I had seen in whole cloth work and try something different; something more like a pen and ink sketch. I toyed with many ideas for a subject, but the one that I kept returning to was our home, the place where we live our lives and where I create. The place where our lives happen. I sized the house from a photo, using an overhead projector. I traced the image to fabric, using a white ceramic marker. It was quilted on my Bernina 930 home sewing machine.
