I wanted to make this quilt to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary which will be August 27, 2016. Well, I am happy that I have completed this quilt early as my husband was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer about 1-1/2 years ago. I received this quilt kit from my dear sweet daughter-in-law, Annette, for my birthday in 2008. I did all the piecing and all the quilting. Some friends helped to pick the fabric and arrange the fabric for the melons as I got rather tired of doing that myself. And, that is why I ended up with some of them being all blue! Just to add a little interest, I added a few batik fabrics from my stash. There are 127 melon units with each unit containing 14 different fabrics. This is a precut Double Wedding Ring quilt purchased from John Flynn (http://flynnquilt.danemcoweb.com/). If you are ever going to buy a precut kit - this has got to be the one to buy! All those little pieces! And he notches the center 'square' so it is very easy to match up the curved pieces. This was fun and a challenge but I will never do another DWR quilt!!
