Comments
These 50 blocks were hand embroidered by my husband's niece, Janice Johnson Grady (1940-2012). Embroidered blocks that included birds and flowers of each state were popular from about 1930-1965. These block patterns are of the later period and include the last two states: Alaska and Hawaii. She embroidered many sets of these blocks about 1985. The embroidery on these blocks is exquisite. Kathleen chose to use triple sashing, nine-path intersections and hand quilting to finish the quilt.
