I chose this as a challenge because I had never paper pieced such a big quilt. I enjoyed piecing the quilt which took me several months. Paper pieced quilts are usually machine quilted. I do not machine quilt and I wanted the quilting to be my work, so I hand quilted it. I designed the quilting in flames and wavy lines radiating out to give it motion. I took one year to do the quilting.
