Honey Bee Quilt Store was informed in July 2011 that we would be in May 2012 Quilt Sampler magazine. We had 2 weeks to design and make an original quilt. The editor would not come and see us because of the drought, and we were talking about how badly we needed rain - I had a pencil and graph paper in hand and Texas Rain Dance was the result. The dark colors at the top represent a storm and the brown all the plants that had died. But as the rain comes, the green comes back as does the light. The brown and green shapes mimic a beautiful copper rain chain that is on a house in my neighborhood. Angela's incredibly beautiful quilting emphasizes the downward motion of the rain and the eager thirsty flowers that are waiting to bloom.
