After receiving a first place on my last Sue Garman quilt, Stars for a New Day, I could not wait to try another one of her designs, especially after Sue emailed me with Congratulations. Last November at the Houston Quilt Festival, I had the chance to meet Sue Garman in person. Her enthusiasm and encouragement inspired me to attempt her pattern, Ruffled Roses. Prior to meeting Sue, I met Angela Steiner from Virginia on a quilting cruise in April, 2011, and she moved to Texas the following July. We decided that she would do the applique and I would do the piecing on this project. Of course, I had to have Angela McCorkle, my favorite hand-guided longarm quilter, finish this project with her artistic talents. I really enjoyed working on this quilt with two of my best friends and showing it off at the Austin QuiltFest.
