This Around the World pattern by Jinny Beyer was originally offered as an instructional one-hour monthly (12) Block-of-the-Month classes at A Stitch in Time Quilt Store (now closed) in Temple. Due to the travel distance and time involved, I could not attend the monthly classes. My husband loved the fabric and encouraged me to purchase a kit and to complete the blocks on my own. The blocks required many quilting techniques new to me such as hand piecing, paper piecing, template constructing, corner mitering, motif centering, and border design cutting. By purchasing Jinny Beyer's book Quiltmaking By Hand, I was able to learn many new techniques to complete the quilt. This was an excellent learning experience. Thanks to my husband, Jim, for encouraging me to purchase the kit and to complete the quilt.
