This quilt is in memory of my aunt, Edna Butterworth Shmith, who lived in Elizabethtown, PA, near the Amish area of Pennsylvania. In February, 2007, at the age of 100 she went to be with The Lord. My aunt was a nurse who was gifted with many talents - knitting, crocheting, china painting, hooking rugs, sewing. She made beautiful original needlepoint kneeling cushions for the altar of her church. But she never quilted; she watched her mother quilt when she was a child and loved to share pictures of my quilts with her friends at her home. I made this quilt in the colors typical of the Lancaster Area Amish and the quilting designs are those seen on many Amish antique quilts.
