The Fertility Goddess is an abstract double sided quilt with irregular borders that pays tribute to the deity who looks to the sun and moon cycles to provide fertility, growth and renewal on earth. She is the true embodiment of life and returns each year to nourish her people. She is made entirely from commercial scrap materials and is machine pieced, appliquéd and quilted. Surface design on both sides of the quilt consists of areas that are inked with Tsukineko inks, colored with watersoluble pastel crayons and painted with acrylic, 3 dimensional and Lumiere paints. This piece is heavily quilted and hand embroidered with thick metallic blue/green/purple threads. Embellished with beads, Angelina fibers, polyvinyl, tulle, hot fix metals and Swarovski crystals. It was my intention for people to be able to see the goddess on both sides of the quilt. I think it's a neat concept.
