Comments
This quilt was made for my son, Kevin Henry. I asked him to look through some of my many quilt books for an idea of what he would like, and the original version of this quilt by Velda Newman was his choice. Since I love her work, I was happy with this choice. I am not a painter, as Ms. Newman is, so I searched for fabrics that would have the color and texture to give the quilt some realism but also to provide rich colors. This quilt provided the excuse for many fabric shopping trips. The quilt is hand-quilted, and it was one of my first hand quilting projects. The quilting is intended to repeat and compliment the leaves and vines in the appliqué.
