In January, 2007, I grabbed a bag of fabric from our Guild's "FREE" table. On examination, I discovered Batik strips of all sizes, colors and lengths. Some had remains of threads where someone had ripped out the sewing. Where did they come from and what was their intended use? They were beautiful. I had to find a use for them. At the next Guild meeting, I watched a demo on foundation piecing by Mary Beard using a paper pattern and fabric strips. "BINGO!" Now I have the fabric, the pattern, and a challenge to myself to use only what fabric was in that bag! I used old fabric for my foundations, eliminating the removal of paper. This quilt kept me busy sewing as we traveled for two months in our RV in the fall of 2007. I did purchase a few Batiks to finish the larger star pieces. My quilts speak to me and this one told me it had to have spiders living on the webs. I added them after I had started the quilting! Can you find my eight friends? This quilt is truly a "Green" quilt. I used someone else's "trash" and turned it into my "treasure".
