Comments
This is the second in a series of pieces focusing on the first chapter of Genesis. Materials include commercial cotton, bridal satin and lace, polyester and cotton threads, oil and acrylic paints, ribbons, and beads. The black area is one piece of material cut open and overlaid on the white, appliquéd down using a decorative multi-color stitch. Color in the black area includes snippets of materials fused in place and completed with Setacolor paints and Shiva® oil Paintstiks®. Beading was applied over ribbon. Some edges are defined and some left open and raw as an indication that this is creation at its beginning.
Techniques
Hand Appliqué, Machine Quilting, Embellishment (Beading), Acrylic and oil painting, hand stitching, fusing, free motion quilting
