The inspiration for this quilt came from a photo I took of the pink oleander bush in our front yard. After making the drawing for the quilt, I learned how to transform it into sewing sections in a Ruth B. McDowell class. Then I spent many weeks at home selecting fabrics, piecing the top, and machine quilting it. It reminds me of my grandfather, who came from Galveston, because the oleander was his favorite flowering plant.
